Relampago was born in 1981 at Jim Foster's ranch, Peruvian Pasos del Sur, in Alabama. As a two year old he was a National Champion in halter. He continued successfully in the show ring accumulating many Champion and Champion of Champion titles in both the Bozal and Bit divisions.

Relampago in Halter

   At the ripe age of 17 years he re-entered the show ring as a performance horse and excelled in this environment, receiving Champion Placements at both the Regional and National levels. After full retirement, he playfully ran the pastures, taught small children how to ride horses and escorted beginner riders on the trails and at the field-trials.
   Always the grand Southern Gentleman, Relampago continued his breeding career into his twenties, with his last offspring born in 2001. His foals, including Porcelana JF,Crystal JF, Nitro JF, Obispo JF, Ensuena de Nirvana, Caprichosa de Nirvana, and others have done well in the show ring and have exceeded our expectations in the breeding arena as well.

   Our "old-man" has a very special place at Hacienda Nirvana. His foals were all exceptional; exhibiting his beautiful coppery-red colour and fine facial features. The pisos and timing of the Relampago offspring is outstanding, and the strength they possess undeniable. We have waited a long time for a colt who we could hope to carry on his legacy and we are optimistic that Optimo (Relampago de Nirvana) will provide us with a little bit of Relampago in the years to come.
